The Mitsubishi A6M Zero Fighter was the finest shipboard fighter in the world during the first year of the Pacific War. It was the first shipboard fighter capable of defeating its land- based opponents. Its world-wide fame was won in a series of astounding victories against all types of land-based and carrier-based Allied aircraft during the first six months after Pearl Harbor.

F4U CORSAIR "DAYSI JUNE"

Development of the Corsair began in 1938, when the US Navy issued a request for a new single-seat carrier-based fighter. The Chance-Vought company won the contract with their unique, gull-winged airframe pulled by the largest engine then available. The wing design was necessitated by the tall landing gear which was, in turn, necessitated by the huge propeller required to propel the plane at the desired high speeds.

P-51D MUSTANG USAF 336TH Fighter Squadron "Donald Duck"
  • Molded plastic construction.
  • Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details.
  • Pad printed markings and placards that won't fade or peel llike decals.
  • Opening canopies, revealing detailed cockpit interiors.
  • Selected moveable control surfaces.
    Functional extending/retracting landing gear.
  • Authentic detachable ordnance loads.
  • Wings and tail surfaces need to be attached. No glueing or painting.

The P51 is the most famous of the American "big three" from WWII: those being the P47, P38, and P51. It seems ironic that this fighter is so closely associated with American air power in the second world war; as it's design specifications and requirements were driven entirely by the RAF in the form of an order from the British Purchasing Commission.
